How to Connect PS5 to Hotel WiFi That Requires a Login
To connect a PS5 or PS4 to hotel WiFi that requires a login, choose the hotel network in the console’s network settings and fill in the hotel’s sign-in page if the console shows one. When the page doesn’t appear, sign in on your Windows laptop instead and share the laptop’s connection with the PlayStation over Wi-Fi.
You’re not the only one stuck at this step. Hotel networks are built for phones and laptops, and a PlayStation has a harder time with them. This guide covers both routes for PS5 and PS4: the console’s own sign-in attempt, and the laptop route with Connectify Hotspot, a Windows app that shares your PC’s internet connection with your other devices over Wi-Fi. Download Connectify Hotspot free so the laptop route is ready before your trip.
Travel Wi-Fi
One hotel login, all your devices, through Connectify Hotspot
Hotel Wi-Fi usually asks for a room number and a surname on a browser page before a device can get online. Connectify Hotspot lets one Windows laptop do that sign-in and share the connection with the other devices you travelled with.
-
The sign-in page
Hotel networks hold new devices at a browser login page until someone fills in the form.
-
Devices that struggle with it
A Kindle or a smart speaker has no browser for the login page. Consoles, streaming sticks and handhelds often fail to load it, or lose the connection when the hotel login times out.
-
One gateway instead
Your Windows laptop signs in once and becomes the gateway for your other devices. They join the laptop's hotspot, so the login page only has to work on the laptop.
Hotspot Lite, the free edition, runs in 60-minute sessions, so on a long stay you start it again now and then. PRO removes the time limit. If your devices stop getting online, the hotel login has timed out: sign in again on the laptop. If the hotel charges per device, check its terms before you share the connection.

Why a PS5 or PS4 Won’t Connect to Hotel WiFi
Most hotel networks use a captive portal: a web page you have to fill in before the network gives you internet access. You type a room number and surname, a code from the front desk, or just accept the terms. A phone or laptop opens that page by itself in a browser. Until the page is done, the hotel lets your device join the Wi-Fi but blocks its internet traffic.
That is why a PlayStation can show the hotel network as connected, get an IP address, and still fail the internet connection test. The console is on the Wi-Fi, but the sign-in page hasn’t been completed.
Try the PlayStation Sign-In Page First on PS5 and PS4
On a PS5:
- Go to Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection.
- Choose the hotel’s network and select Connect. Enter the Wi-Fi password if the hotel gave you one.
- If the hotel’s sign-in page appears, fill it in with the details from the front desk.
- Check the result under Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection.
PlayStation Support doesn’t publish hotel sign-in steps for the PS5. PS5 owners report that opening the User’s Guide from Settings, which loads in the console’s web browser, can bring up the hotel page when it doesn’t appear on its own. It doesn’t work on every hotel network.
On a PS4:
- Go to Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection, then Use Wi-Fi > Easy, and choose the hotel’s network.
- If the connection test fails after the PS4 gets an IP address, go to Settings > User’s Guide. PlayStation Support says this opens the login screen for a Wi-Fi hotspot when the PS4 web browser won’t open.
- Fill in the hotel’s sign-in page, then run Test Internet Connection again.
If neither console gets past the sign-in page, ask the front desk whether it can register a game console for you, or use the laptop route below.
How to Connect PS5 or PS4 to Hotel WiFi Through Your Laptop
The laptop route works the same for PS5 and PS4. The hotel’s sign-in page only has to be completed once, on the laptop. Connectify Hotspot then shares that signed-in connection as your own Wi-Fi network, and the PlayStation joins it the same way it joins your network at home. The hotel’s login page never reaches the console.
Share Hotel WiFi with Your PS5 or PS4 in 7 Steps
- Connect your laptop to the hotel Wi-Fi and complete the sign-in page in its browser. Open any website to check that you’re online.
- Download and install Connectify Hotspot on your 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 PC.
- Open it and choose Wi-Fi hotspot.
- Under Internet to share, pick the hotel Wi-Fi connection.
- Set a password. Turn on Block ads if you want lighter pages on every device. Lite runs in 60-minute sessions; PRO removes the limit.
- Click Start hotspot.
- On the PlayStation, open Set Up Internet Connection again, pick your Connectify Hotspot network and enter its password. Then run Test Internet Connection.

Set it up at home once. Join the PS5 or PS4 to your Connectify Hotspot before the trip. The console remembers the network name and password, so at each new hotel you only sign in on the laptop and start the hotspot. Keep the same hotspot name and password, or the PlayStation will need setting up again.
Two more tips for a long session. Hotel sign-ins can expire, so if the console suddenly drops offline, check the laptop’s browser for a new sign-in page. On laptops with Modern Standby, Windows stops the hotspot about 10 minutes after the screen turns off, so keep the laptop plugged in with its screen on while you play.
A phone hotspot can also get a PlayStation online, but it normally shares the phone’s mobile data, so game downloads and updates count against your data plan.
Connectify Hotspot 27 runs on 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1703 or later) and Windows 11. On a Windows 7 or 8 PC, use Connectify Hotspot 2021 instead: see our Windows 7 and Windows 8 guides.
Fix NAT Type 3 on PS5 and PS4 with Free Gaming Mode
NAT type describes how easily other players’ consoles can reach yours. A PlayStation shows it as Type 1, 2 or 3 in the internet connection test. Type 3 is the strictest, and PlayStation Support notes that it can stop Remote Play from working; it can also block voice chat and some multiplayer matches.
Connectify Hotspot Lite includes gaming mode for free. Open the Clients screen, select your PS5 or PS4 and turn on its gaming mode. UPnP, the feature that lets a console open the connections it needs by itself, is on by default. Then run Test Internet Connection again.

Gaming mode fixes the part of the path that runs through your laptop. The hotel’s own network can still restrict NAT, and no setting on your laptop changes that, so a better NAT type is not guaranteed on hotel Wi-Fi. For more fixes, see how to fix a strict NAT type.
Both consoles have an Ethernet port, so if the Wi-Fi signal is weak where the console sits, Wired router mode (PRO) shares the laptop’s connection over an Ethernet cable instead.
Check the Hotel’s Device Terms Before You Share
Connectify Hotspot is for getting your own devices online after you sign in once. Some hotels charge per device or limit how many devices each guest can connect. If yours does, check its terms before you share the connection. When the hotel charges per room or per stay, sharing it with your own PlayStation is fine.
