Windows 10: Mobile Hotspot Windows Functionality Doesn’t Work After Fall Creators Update

Microsoft launched in mid October 2017 the Fall Creators Update for Windows 10 users, which brings many new and exciting updates and functionalities. However, there are many reports that Wi-Fi Direct, the Windows Mobile Hotspot, and Connectify Hotspot have all stopped working after installing the Fall Creators Update.

Where the built-in Windows 11 hotspot stops and Connectify Hotspot keeps going

Windows 11 has a hotspot built in, and for a quick share between two devices the built-in version is fine. The gaps show up when the hotspot has to stay up, carry more devices, or do something a plain hotspot cannot.

Does the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Affect Connectify Hotspot Functionality?

We’ve gotten reports from some of our users running Windows 10 computers that the Fall Creators Update makes our Connectify Hotspot app not function correctly for some users.

This is because we use a series of Microsoft programming APIs for Connectify Hotspot. And since their own Windows Mobile Hotspot doesn’t work (which uses some of the same resources), then unfortunately Connectify Hotspot is affected as well.

What’s the Solution to Make Mobile Hotspot Work under Windows 10?

If you need a mobile hotspot functionality on your Windows 10 computer, then there’s only one thing that can help you at this time: download the latest beta of Connectify Hotspot 2018 here!

Free, PRO or MAX

Which version of Connectify Hotspot you need

The free version of Connectify Hotspot covers the setup in this guide. The only limit you will hit is the 60-minute session, and restarting the session takes one click.

Recommended: MAX adds Connectify Hotspot's Repeater Mode and Bridging Mode, which is what most people come back for later.
